Introduction
Shôgi (literally "Generals’ chess") was played in the Middle-Ages by shôgun and samurai as a martial art for the mind. Through centuries, it became one of the most popular games in Japan.
It’s played with a chessboard, shôgiban, with 81 squares. At the beginning of the game, each player has 20 flat, slightly pointed, pieces. The aim is to take the adversary’s king.
At Japan Expo Sud
Come attend the workshops to learn how to play shôgi, Japanese chess.
A special guest will be there: Madoka KITAO, professional player, is coming especially for the workshop. A perfect oppotunity for you to get better, or learn the rules and basics with the simple version of the game created by Madoka KITAO, called "Dôbutsu".
